Ganoderma King of Herbs

GANODERMA (Reishi/Lingzhi) –King Of Herbs

Over two thousand years ago,

Emperors of the great Chinese dynasties and Japanese royalties drank teas and a concoction of Red Mushroom Ganoderma (Reishi/Lingzhi) – King of Herbs, for VITALITY – LONGEVITY – VIGOR – VIRILITY.

Ganoderma lucidium is still increasingly known for its Medicinal Properties associated with health and recuperation and is the scientific name of this medicinal Red Mushroom. GANO – the Greek word which means Bright Shining, and DERMA – the Greek word which means Skin

Other Names which are attributed to this Red Mushroom are REISHI – Japanese and LINGZHI – Chinese.

The early Chinese medical text speaks with genuine reverence about Lingzhi and its powers to heal. In ancient times, Reishi in medicine is so auspicious that its medical efficacy has been attested to in the oldest Chinese medical text (presumed to be over 2,000 years old). The book which is known in Japan as “Shinnoh Honsohko” is now accepted as being the original textbook of Oriental Medical Science.

Relatively rare and undiscovered in the west, Reishi and other mushrooms have been revered as Herbal Medicine for thousands of years in Japan and China.

Reishi is a Basidiomycete Lamellales Fungus: In nature, it grows in densely wooded mountains of high humidity and dim lighting. It is rarely found since it flourishes mainly on the dried trunks of dead plum, Guercus and Pasonis trees. Out of tens of thousands of such aged trees, perhaps there will be two or three Reishi growth, and therefore it is very scarce.

Mycologist – is the scientist who works in the study of mushroom. According to different mycologists, there are about thirty-eight thousand (38,000) kinds of species of mushrooms: 2,000 are edible, and 200 are of the Red Mushrooms.

The Red Mushroom is the most sought after in terms of studies and its continuing research and commercial production. The study of the medicinal value of Ganoderma has become a matter of great significance for many serious diseases including Malignant Tumours (Cancers). Ganoderma is the well-known modern type of Reishi/Lingzhi which is being cultivated.
